FGR to present cheque to charity partners WellChild
Representatives from WellChild, Forest Green’s official charity partners, will be at this Saturday’s home match against Maidstone to receive a cheque from the Football Association’s Community Shield fund.
A presentation during the halftime interval will also see the charity receive a further £263 that has been raised via donations made by supporters when purchasing tickets and merchandise on the club’s online shop.
And WellChild’s two dedicated matchdays at Forest Green this season, against Bromley and Macclesfield, have also seen them raise a further £444 towards their grand total with the club this season.
In total FGR have received £2,000 from the FA’s Community Shield fund and half of this amount will be heading to WellChild, whose work sees them offer practical and emotional support for children and young people with exceptional health needs. The other £1,000 will be donated to The Green Britain Foundation – which helps assist the club’s Fit2Last community programme.
WellChild focuses on funding specialist WellChild Nurses, home and garden makeovers and research projects to ensure that wherever possible, children and young people can be cared for at home with their families, while influencing future health, education and social care policy to improve quality of life for seriously ill children and their families.
WellChild are delighted that Forest Green Rovers have chosen to support them this season:
“For many of the children and families we support, just getting through the day is a huge challenge. On their behalf, a huge thank you to the fans, staff and players at Forest Green Rovers for their incredible support this season.”
On Saturday the total figure WellChild will receive is over £1,700 and FGR would like to thank supporters for their help in supporting such a fantastic charity this season.
It’s still possible to donate to WellChild when making purchases on the FGR club shop. And you can also make a donation at this Saturday’s game against Maidstone.
