Darren Carter

A September 2015 arrival, Darren Carter brings a wealth of experience to the squad at The New Lawn having played in all of England's top five divisions.

The experienced midfielder made his debut for FGR in a Gloucestershire derby against Cheltenham Town. He went onto help the club reach the National League play-off final in May 2016 at Wembley, only to miss out on promotion to League Two after a heartbreaking loss to Grimsby Town.

Carter burst onto the scene as a teenager at Birmingham City. He scored the winning penalty in front of a crowd of over 70,000 at the Millennium Stadium to help them win the Championship play-off final against Norwich City to earn his hometown club a dream promotion to the Premier League.

After representing the Blues in the top flight, he secured another Premier League move to West Bromwich Albion, and would go onto play for Preston North End in the Championship.

A major injury disrupted his career and he subsequently moved to Cheltenham. He helped the Robins reach the League Two play-offs before departing for Northampton Town.

After he was released by the Cobblers he remained a free agent until September 2015, when after a short period training with the club, he signed a deal at FGR.
