01/04/2008 - Afful double sparks Rovers to victory over Burton
Les Afful was the hero for Forest Green last night, as Rovers put in a star performance in front of the TV cameras to beat Burton Albion 3-1.
A goal in each half from the tricky winger (his first in 11months), plus a 19th minute opener from Adriano Rigoglioso earned Rovers the points, while Daryl Clare scored the solitary goal for the visitors.
Despite the absence of three regular defensive starters (Jones, Giles and Tonkin) and leading goal scorer Stuart Fleetwood, Rovers were worthy winners on the night.
The victory keeps Rovers hopes of a play off spot a mathematical possibility, while Burton's defeat ensures there will be a few nervous weeks until the end of the season for all the contenders.
