Rovers travel to Newport this weekend
FOURTEEN days after they were last in action, Forest Green travel across the Severn Bridge to take on Newport County for the fourth time this season (3pm).
Having already met in the league at The New Lawn and twice in the FA Trophy, Rovers will be hoping to secure a win having come away with two draws and a loss against Justin Edinburgh’s outfit.
Newport have struggled in a season which has seen the Exiles change manager and hover around the relegation zone for most of the campaign. Currently they are being kept out of the drop zone on goal difference.
Rovers boss Dave Hockaday will be hoping to hand a debut to new goalkeeper Sam Russell who arrived at the club last week from Darlington whilst midfield anchor Al Bangura will miss out again following another knee operation.
Rovers will also be missing James Rowe (knee), Chris Todd (hamstring), Reece Styche (knee), Curtis McDonald and the suspended Matt Paterson although it is hoped that front man Matt Taylor may be fit to return.
Wayne Turk, who represented both Newport and Forest Green, parted ways with the club during the week and has signed for Cirencester Town.
Chris Todd, Charlie Griffin and Curtis McDonald have all played for the Welsh outfit previously whilst the current Newport side features former Rovers men Wayne Hatswell and Andy Sandell.
The FGR Supporters Club are running a coach to the game with pick-ups at KB Coaches (12:15pm), The New Lawn (12:30pm) and Sainsbury’s (12:40pm).
