Rovers’ pair go out on loan
Forest Green Rovers have allowed goalkeeper James Bittner and striker Charlie Griffin to go out on loan until the end of the season.
Bittner, who recently turned 30, is joining AFC Totton in the Evo-Stick South Premier Division, while Griffin, 32, returns for a spell at Blue Square South outfit Salisbury City.
Veteran forward Griffin has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season and has scored seven league goals to be Rovers second top scorer behind Yan Klukowski with nine.
But the signing of Tommy Wright in January and the expected return of Reece Styche in the not-too-distant-future has increased the competition for places in David Hockaday’s match day squads.
Meanwhile, Devizes-born keeper James Bittner has made 22 appearances for Rovers this season, but has seen his chances restricted since the signing of Sam Russell from Darlington in the January transfer window.
The former Woking, Bournemouth, Exeter City, Torquay United and Salisbury City stopper will join the ‘Mighty Stags’ in Hampshire who currently sit second in their league.
