Hockaday - "A lot more to come"
ROVERS boss Dave Hockaday believes his Forest Green side have “a lot more to come” following their second consecutive win on the bounce against Kettering on Tuesday evening.
Rovers picked up all the points on offer courtesy of a 3-1 win over struggling Kettering at Nene Park as Jamie Collins struck a brace in just his second appearance for the club and Yan Klukowski notched this tenth goal of the season.
“We can play better,” said Hockaday following the game. “It’s a great score line and it would have been even better if we hadn’t conceded in the last minute.
“We can play a lot better than that. I thought we lacked focus, especially in the first half, and we gave the ball away too cheaply.
“I’m not just saying it for effect – the players feel that and they know that. The good thing is their standards are so high now that although we’ve won and that’s a great thing, they know that they can play a lot better so there is a lot more to come.”
Hockaday also reserved praise for Jamie Collins showing in the middle of the park as the deadline day signing from Aldershot Town ended his first away game in a Rovers shirt with two goals to his name.
“He’s a good player. I was delighted to get him. We actually know that he can score goals and he can defend and he can get forward.
“He’s a good acquisition to the squad and good players don’t take long to blend in.”
The win on Tuesday evening in Northamptonshire recorded Rovers second win in the space of four days and Forest Green will be hoping to make it three on the trot when they face a tough trip to Barrow on Saturday.
