Carlsberg backs the Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers has signed up a refreshing new player – Carlsberg lager.

From this Saturday’s home game against Fleetwood Town (28 January 2012), The Green Man taps will flow with this famous beer, marking the beginning of an exciting new year at The New Lawn stadium.

Carlsberg regional marketing manager Benedict Cordy said: “We are very proud to announce our three year deal to become the official beer of Forest Green Rovers.”

“It is fantastic to be working with such a great club who share our passion for football and sustainable working.

“We look forward to building our partnership with the football club both on and off the pitch in the Gloucestershire area. Come on you Rovers!”

The deal is a resounding stamp of approval from the brewery which sponsors the England team. As well as benefitting from a great tasting beverage, fans will have access to numerous offers and promotions throughout the year.

Carlsberg are also the main sponsors of Euro 2012 and there will be special offers leading up to and during this massive international tournament.

“We’re really excited about the news” said FGR General Manager, Trevor Saunders.

“It’s great to have the support of a brewery like Carlsberg, especially one with such great connections to international football.”

The Green Man, the Black and White Bar, and the Carole Embrey Suite will be fitted with shiny new pumps and equipment thanks to Carlsberg.

To maintain the economic viability of the New Lawn’s on-site public house, The Green Man has become an “event bar” in recent months, with the venue open for watching live football matches on TV and running skittle or pool league matches.

For example this week it is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm, Tuesday from 5pm for the FGR v Wrexham game, and Saturday from 12 noon for FGR v Fleetwood.

Opening times are updated weekly on the FGR website.

The facility is also bookable for private functions – birthdays and other celebrations, meetings, musical events, etc.
