Another huge test for Rovers
Just a few days after knocking previous table toppers Wrexham off the top of the table, Rovers will attempt to do the same again this weekend when current leading side Fleetwood Town visit The New Lawn (3pm).
The Cod Army have enjoyed a fantastic season this time round following their promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier in 2010 and currently sit top of the pile having accumulated 66 points.
The Lancashire based clubs squad is also filled with quality as the likes of Danny Rose, Richard Brodie and the highly sought after Jamie Vardy have helped boost Micky Mellon’s side in to an automatic promotion position.
There will be two familiar faces in the Fleetwood squad to visit The New Lawn tomorrow as Lee Fowler, who had two spells with Rovers and Andy Mangan return to Nailsworth and both are key men at Fleetwood.
Rovers will be boosted hugely by Tuesday night’s terrific win over Wrexham and will be hoping to go one better over their visitors when earlier in the season Dave Hockaday’s side earned a point at Highbury.
Kieron Forbes will go through a fitness test on his hamstring to see if he is fit to line up on Saturday whilst it’s hoped that James Norwood will be fit to play after training on Thursday.
The usual absentees will miss ou twith Chris Todd, Reece Styche, James Rowe, Curtis McDonald and Al Bangura missing out through injury whilst Matt Paterson sits out the final game of his three match suspension.
Rovers will be hoping for a repeat result from the last time the two sides met at The New Lawn last season as Forest Green netted all three points courtesy of a goal from Steve Guinan.
The veteran striker pounced on a parried Scott Davies save after Yan Klukowski had tested the Fleetwood keeper with a powerful shot in the 78th minute to hand Rovers three points in a game that saw Danny Hall make his Forest Green debut.
Supporters are reminded that in order to gain half of the price off a pint of Carlsberg that they should use the match programme from Tuesday’s game as a voucher.
As per usual there is plenty of hospitality on offer to home and away fans on match day with the Green Man being open to both sets of supporters before and after the match serving drinks and pre match meals.
Home fans can enjoy the comfort of both the Carol Embrey Suite and Black & White Lounges on Saturday for prematch meals and snacks and these lounges can also be accessed at half time.
Bottles of Carlsberg will be on sale in the concourse for this fixture too priced at £3 ensuring all fans have the opportunity to grab a drink in the half time break.
