Todd to undergo surgery
FOREST Green defender Chris Todd will undergo surgery at the Princess Grace Hospital in London tomorrow.
A summer signing from Newport County, centre-back Todd, 30, tore a hamstring 68 minutes into his Rovers debut against Stockport County on the opening day of the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.
Todd and Forest Green’s senior sports therapist Tim Grigg travelled up to London yesterday and following a consultation with Professor Fares Harad, Todd will now be sidelined for up to five months.
Grigg said: " We treated the injury initially as a serious hamstring tear, but after intensive therapy he failed to make much progress so we sent him for a MRI scan to ascertain the nature of the injury.
"The results revealed Chris had torn two of his three hamstrings off the bone."
Todd has been overwhelmed by the support afforded to him.
"I could not wish to be at a better club, for the way things have been handled," said Todd.
"They’re very professional and have made sure my well being will be looked after on the road to recovery.
"I can honestly not thank the chairman enough as well as Griggy (Tim Grigg), the gaffer (David Hockaday) and staff at Forest Green."
