FGR U14's 5 WROUGHTON U14's 1 END OF SEASON FRIENDLY AT THE "NEW LAWN"
ROVERS BECOME THE CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS!
Forest Green Rovers played host to the unbeaten North Wiltshire League & Cup winners Wroughton in an end of season friendly on Monday evening at the "New Lawn".
With both sides winning their respective leagues this season and remaining unbeaten in league competion this had the making of an evenly matched game.
Rovers started the first half in superb fashion dominating all areas of the park and it wasn't long before Jack Richards headed home Callum Richings corner to give Rovers the lead.
The home side extended their lead soon after when Jack Watts robbed posession off the covering defender and cooly placed the ball home.
Rovers continued to press in the second half and made it 3-0 when Watts grabbed his second of the game. Jamie Walker then got in on the act. His first effort was blocked but when the ball rebounded to him to cooly lobbed the visiting keeper to make it 4-0.
Wroughton did pull a goal back but Rovers finished this tie late on. Walkers shot could only be parried by the Wroughton keeper and Rory Yates was on hand to smash the ball home.
Final score: Forest Green Rovers 5 - 1 Wroughton
