Rovers Finish On A High

The last match of the season saw FGR come from behind to win and in reality the score could and should have been much higher.

FGR started brightly with same great interplay on the left hand side involving Dominic Randall, Dylan Miles and Tamas Tomcsanyi. However they found themselves going behind to a well struck shot which left Edward Millard with no chance.

This didn’t deter FGR and they continued to press and got the equalizer in rather fortunate circumstances. A cross into the box took a number of deflections before it was put in by a Leckhampton player. The second goal wasn’t long coming with Max Baker popping up at the back post to scramble the ball home.

The second half was one way traffic with Jack Pegler and Zack Eckersall both unlucky not to increase the lead. Leckhampton were happy to play on the break and good defending by Billy Montague kept FGR in front. FGR then had several more chances but the goals just wouldn.’t come..

Overall it has been a very good season for the Under 9 . in a league of good quality opposition. Coaches Phil Baker and Clive Eckersall can feel rightly proud of the way the lads have conducted themselves throughout the season and everyone is looking forward to moving up to the Under 10’s
