Reserves lose out to Cheltenham
GOALS from Theo Lewis and former QPR star Bagasan Graham sealed a 2-1 win for Cheltenham Town Reserves against Forest Green Reserves at the New Lawn last night.
Earlier Rovers’ youth team striker Charlie Buse saw his strike saved by John Bateman following a James Norwood pass.
However, the Robins nosed ahead on 10 minutes when Graham’s cross saw Matt Bulman parry a Lewis header, but the latter was on hand to hammer home from close range.
Lewis had another headed chance a few minutes later and Andy Gallinagh saw his strike blocked by Bulman.
Rovers found parity after the break, Yan Klukowski combined well with on loan Newport County striker Robbie Matthews and powered home a 25 yard strike.
The Robins regained the lead on 72 minutes as Graham beat Bulman at his near post. However, Bulman was on call to pull off a great save towards the end from Lewis.
Coach Scott Bartlett said : "I thought we did ok in spells, but generally you would have to say we can do better.
"It was a tough test for our younger boys but we have only worked with them for a short period of time and games like this will be beneficial to their development. I am sure they enjoyed the experience."
