Home win for Forest Green Women
Forest Green Ladies were playing at their new ground at Slimbridge FC for the first time and having had a poor start to the season last week they were looking for a good performance.
Goals rained in from Charlotte King (3), Katie Cook (2), Natalie Holbrook, Ella Hitchcock (2).
Forest Green took just five minutes to put the ball in the back of the net when a quick break by Laura Perehinec down right hand side and cross into Charlotte King who met the ball with a vicious right foot into the top corner. Ten minutes later Forest Green doubled their lead when Natalie Holbrook got onto a set piece corner from man of the match Ella Hitchcock to pock the ball home from close range. Three more goals then followed in quickly, Charlotte King getting her second and both wingers Laura Perehinec and Ella Hitchcock getting on to the score sheet, HT 5-0
The second half started with Keynsham putting forest under a lot of early pressure in what seemed attack after attack, however, the Forest green defence was determined not to concede which was credit to their professionalism. With so many Keynsham players committed to attack Ella Hitchcock saw gap broke free and lay the ball onto Charlotte King who coolly lobed the Keynsham Keeper to claim a well deserved hatrick. Two more goals from the hard working and energetic Katie Cook saw Forest Green Ladies come away with a fantastic home debut.
Manager Josh Giddins Said: We asked the girls to put last week behind them and to concentrate on what we have been doing in training, but this week have been really impressed by players work ethic both in training and in match.
Man of the Match: Ella Hitchcock – Always a threat going forward and worked hard to support right back.
