FOREST GREEN END TOP OF THE TABLE GLOUCESTER'S WINNING STREAK IN LOCAL DERBY.

With both teams on form coming into this vital league game all was set up for a promising local derby. Forest Greenstarted well putting lost pressure on the Gloucester defence. The first real chance came after 10 minutes with some good work down the right hand side by hazelwith a searching ball into the box met by Ella who stuck it just over the crossbar. Forest continued and Gloucester at this stage found it difficult to gain any real possession and on the 35th minute a quick corner by Ella say Katie Cook free to swivel and float a back post cross met by Kinger who bulleted the header passed the stationary Gloucester keeper 1-0 Forest Green. This seemed to spur Gloucester on who come back into the game but failed to penetrate the Forest defence Nat, Lorea and Shep who were dominant, the closestchance falling to the Gloucester 10 Annie who header was goal bound only to beheaded of the line and over the bar by a determined Frankie.

The second half saw Gloucester come outwith a positive attitude, putting pressure on the forest green defence. Tenminutes into the second half and slightly against the run of play Forests PaigeStewart broke up play feeding the ball wide to hazel who worked the ball widebefore playing into striker Katie cook, quick 0ne,two with kinger and ball laidinto Kirsty who burst through Gloucester’s defence to slide the ball beyond theGloucester keeper 2-0.  Forest GreensPaige and Kirsty now started to dominate the game which saw 3/4 good chancesfrom Charlie, Hazel, Annie and Cookie keeping the Gloucester Goal Keeper verybusy, however, the best move and goal was saved for last.

Forest Keeper Jade rolled the ball out toNat who found Ella free on left hand side the ball was moved quickly inside toPaige then on to Kirsty who switched it wide right to Charlie, Charlie fired infirst time ball to Kinger who in one touch cushioned the ball and set theoncoming Paige  who from outside the areacurled it first time into the top corner. (If this was the Premiership it wouldbe goal of the season). Gloucester managed a consolation goal near to the end ofthe game when the hard working centre forward Annie sprung onto a loose ballfrom the Forest defence hitting the ball wide of the oncoming Jade. The gamewas then seen out impressively by Forest Green, final score Gloucester 1 ForestGreen 3.

Manager :Josh Giddins said, Fantastic teamperformance today and it shows what we are capable of when we put our minds toit.

Forest Green man of the match you couldhave picked any one today out of 14 but Paige Stewart  bossed most things and her finish for thefinal goal was class.
