Forest Green Ladies FC was formed in 2002, from the former Chalford Ladies FC, and since that time has steadily improved and expanded, both on and off the pitch, to such an extent that they are currently the leading female club in the county. They currently run two Ladies teams, the 1st team in the SW Combination League, and the Reserves in the SW Women’s Football League, as well as U16 & U14 teams who compete in local leagues, and a development U12 team that are new this 2013-14 season.
The 1st team have now been playing in the South West Combination for several seasons, a mere 2 steps below the Women’s Premier League, and have consolidated themselves well, finishing in 2nd place in 2011-12, and in 4th place last season. The club has had success over the years, winning the South West Women's Football League, the Pat Sowden Trophy, and the Gloucestershire County Cup, as well as several players gaining representative honours at all levels.
The club has had several committee changes for the 2013-14 season, and with a new 1st team manager and several new signings showing up well in pre-season, as well as a good retention of senior players, it all bodes well for the coming season.
Training takes place at Rednock School in Dursley on Thursday evenings, with the Youth teams training from 6.45-8pm, and the Ladies from 7.30-9pm. If you like your football, and are interested in joining the club, then just come along on the night, or alternatively e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your details, and we will answer any questions you may have.
