A lively character, James Norwood joined Forest Green permanently in June 2011 for his second spell with the club after a previous loan spell in the 2010-11 season.
A hard working, skilful attacker, with an eye for goal, James spent time in his youth with Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.
He failed to sign a professional deal with either club and as a teenager attending St Bede’s College in his native Sussex turned out for Isthmian League side Eastbourne Town where his superb goal scoring abilities captured the eye of Football League side Exeter City who snapped him up in July 2009.
Norwood made his Exeter debut as a second half substitute on the opening day of the 2009-10 season as a 19-year-old in front of just under 30,000 fans at Elland Road Stadium in Leeds before joining Sutton United in a short term loan move.
His first spell at Forest Green, a loan move in August 2010, introduced him to the Rovers faithful for the first time where he caught the eye with his pace and skills and he also spent time on loan at home town club Eastbourne Borough.
James was released by Exeter at the end of the 2010-11 season and Rovers instantly secured his signature with an impressive season at The New Lawn.
Last season saw him come of age, by adding composure in front of goal to his pace and attacking intent, Norwood ended the season as Rovers top scorer with 15 goals including a dynamic New Years Day hat-trick at Newport.
Selected for England C against Bermuda, James had a debut to savour, scoring a hat-trick and claiming the plaudits.
He has also represented the England Schools under 18’s squad, scoring against France at Wembley Stadium in a 4-2 defeat.
