Chris Stokes
Defender
The 2011-12 ‘Supporters Player of the Year’ award winner Chris Stokes proved he is one of the top young full backs outside the Football League with an outstanding season last year in Dave Hockaday’s side.
Chris joined Forest Green in November 2010 following his release by Bolton Wanderers where the talented left back had learnt his trade as part of the Trotters successful youth and reserve teams.
He very nearly missed out on the opportunity to sign on for Rovers when a move to Cypriot side AEL Limassol was lined up for the dominant defender but a late call up saw the former England under 17 international become a Rovers player.
Chris made his debut in February 2011 in a home draw with Darlington and quickly impressed, earning himself a one year contract that was extended after further impressive performances in January 2012.
He had previously experienced life in the Football League with a brief loan period at Crewe Alexandra in his time at Bolton which saw him make a couple of appearances.
